Carrie gets her Alphabet Book

1Carrie&Book with Grandma B. 3-21-09.jpgToday was the day!  Alex and Family came over to see Carrie get her book, finally!  I took some pictures and am going to show you a few.  Michelle took this one of Carrie and me looking through the book.  She seemed very happy to have it, and last I saw as they were all leaving in the van, she had it open on her lap, looking again.  I hope it is fun for her to use and go through, again and again.  While here, I got Michaela's originals out for her to look at, too.  She seemed to enjoy that a lot!

These are some of the copies, as I was putting the facts into the book, before laminating.  I guess now on the internet, you can put books together, rather like self-publishing.  I was just going with what I had done before, for Michaela and Jack.  So now I have learned that using the self-publishing websites would not only give me a very professional book, but it would have been less expensive!  No wonder Kinko's prices have gone up since the last time I did this. (I ended up going to Office Max for laminating, way less expensive, by $40.00)

If you look closely at the border on the ladybug page, I found a border that is all ladybugs!  Everyone seems to like the painting and the fact page.  So glad I changed the painting!

This is the whole book, before the binding was put on.  The binding in a clear coil, and if the other books are anything to go by, it should last.  Earlier books are still in tact, no ill effects from kids looking and looking.  Good choice, no matter what the internet can now do!

Carrie opened the alphabet book, and immediately started to look through it with her sister by her side, looking on as well.  She was impressed and pleased with the attention she was getting!  And she had favorites by the end of the book, the Meerkat and the Zebra.   So that is the end of the entries about Carrie's book.  Glad the reading audience seemed to enjoy the journey, because it was a journey...of love, for a very sweet little girl.

Look at the consentration in the gaze from both Grandma and Grandaughter, a very cherished mement. All that hard work. Worth every second.

Oh, I know I sound like a broken record, but this is a gift of love. I'm overwhelmed at your talent, and I think it is incredible that you handcrafted such an amazing gift to your grandchildren.

That first shot is really special. Seeing her look so serious at the pictures is probably all of the confirmation that this was a hit that you will need :).

Congrats on finishing it!

Carrie LOVES her book! It has already visited the preschool class a couple of times and the teachers are all in awe of your talent. Michaela still brings her book to school to show off. Both girls are quite proud of their special gift you have given them. I'm sure they will have these books for a very long time and will maybe someday share them with their children.
